This accessibility statement applies to www.westroadmedicalcentre.co.uk, the website of West Road Medical Centre.

This website is run on behalf of West Road Medical Centre by NoticeBoardTV Ltd (SurgerySites). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• listen to most of the website using a screen reader

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

• the picture banner on the home page changes automatically every few seconds and there is no button to pause it
• the online consultation (eConsult) panel opens over the home page when you arrive; it can be closed with the button in its top right corner
• on some pages the headings are not in a logical order, which can make them harder to navigate with a screen reader
• many documents, such as the practice leaflet, new patient packs and travel leaflets, are PDF files, which are not always accessible to screen readers
• the language translation tool is not shown on mobile phones
• we have not yet fully tested the website using a keyboard only

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some content on this website is provided by other organisations and is not under our control: the eConsult online consultation service, the Care Quality Commission rating widget, the Google map on our contact page, the NHS practice catchment map and the Google Translate tool. PDF documents published before 23 September 2018 that are not essential to using our services are also outside the scope of the regulations.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We review the website against the accessibility guidelines on an ongoing basis. In October 2026 we replaced the site search, made the practice phone numbers tappable on a mobile phone, added a page location (breadcrumb) to every inner page and removed an accessibility overlay tool, which NHS guidance advises against. We are now working on the heading order, the home page banner and converting key PDF documents into ordinary web pages.

This statement was prepared on 5 October 2026, following a review of the website against the current NHS England guidance and WCAG 2.2. It replaces the previous, undated statement.
